Hamworthy Park Junior School was built in the early 1970's on a beautiful and spacious site with views of Poole Harbour, the Purbecks and Brownsea Island. The children have the privilege of being able to regularly use our indoor heated swimming pool: each school year all children are offered the opportunity to swim. We have a special area for Food Technology and group work which enriches our curriculum provision.
The school consists of four year groups:-
Year 3 (7 - 8 years)
Year 4 (8 - 9 years)
Year 5 (9 - 10 years)
Year 6 (10 - 11 years)
All children in Key Stage 2 are based in classes of up to 30 and are the responsibility of the class teacher. Throughout the year each child builds a special relationship with other class members, various teaching assistants and their teacher. The class teacher is always available at the end of a school day to give advice and information to parents/carers, should they wish to discuss any issues which may affect their child’s learning.
For the majority of the curriculum the children are taught by their class teacher or other teachers within their year group. At other times, they may be taught specialist subjects by other staff.
Hamworthy Park Junior School is part of the Hillary Partnership, which is a Poole based Academy group. This trust is in turn part of the larger Hamwic Education Trust.
This means that, whilst remaining two separate institutions, the schools are able to work closely together to ensure consistent, positive outcomes for the children across the Federation. The staff and joint governing body of the Federation work closely together to develop positive relationships and opportunities; common ethos and systems; and a smooth transition between the schools.
The Staffing structure of the schools are consistent. An Executive Headteacher provides the strategic leadership of the Federation, wth a Head of School & Deputy Head of school responsible for the day to day running of Twin Sails and Hamworthy Park.
Both schools have academy status and work within the Hillary Partnership. The Hillary Partnership is part of Hamwic Education Trust. The Hillary Partnership is dedicated to securing the very best outcomes for all pupils and works collegiately with Bearwood Primary School and Springdale First School.
