PE and Sport News – January 2020

The PE team would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! Here’s a look at all the exciting, active things that we’ve been getting up to in January

10/01/20 – Y5/6 Girls Football v Broadstone Middle

On Friday 10th January, the girls football team travelled to Broadstone Middle for their next league game. It was an incredibly well contested and spirited game. Both teams showed great bravery and decision making on the ball and kept going all the way until the end. Hamworthy ended up narrowly losing 0-1 after a great strike in the top corner from the opposition. As always, HPJS showed fantastic attitude throughout. Great effort girls!

17/01/20 – Y5/6 AFCB Girls Football Tournament

Another Friday = another action packed day of girls’ football! The girls took part in a 6-a-side tournament involved 10 teams from across Dorset. The girls impressed Miss Fripp and Mr Paterson throughout by showing great effort and sportsmanship. After 3 wins and 1 draw they progressed through to the semi-finals as group winners. Following two determined performances in the semi-final and final, the girls secured a fantastic win in extra-time! Amazing effort girls! You represented our school brilliantly

21/01/20 - Y4 Dance

dance festival at Carter Community School. All the children’s effort was brilliant and they come up with some fantastic ideas for their dance routines.

21/01/20 - Y5/6 Boys Football v Emmanuel

On Tuesday 21st January, the Year 5/6s boys travelled all the way to Emmanuel Middle School. After an unfortunate start, the boys didn’t give up and kept competing to the end. There was some really good football, skill and effort on display. Final score, Emmanuel 4 – 1 Hamworthy

22/01/20 – Y5/6 Netball v Emmanuel

The following day it was Emmanuel’s turn to complete the journey. Both HPJS teams impressed Mrs Hill, Mrs Dean and Miss Fripp with the brilliant netball they played and their effort throughout. Well done boys and girls! We’re very excited for more netball fixtures coming up!

24/01/20 - Y5/6 AFCB Boys Football Tournament

On Friday 24th January, our Year 5 and 6 boys football team took part in an AFCB 6-a-side tournament. The team played some great football at times and kept working hard until the end of each game. They recorded 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat.

27/01/20 – Y4/5/6 Squash Festival

11 children from years 4,5 and 6 went to West Hants Tennis Centre to try their hand at Squash. For most, this was a brand new experience! All the pupils seemed to really enjoy themselves and had big smiles on their faces throughout. If you would like to play this great sport outside of school, please the information in the pictures.

29/01/20 – SEND Panathlon Festival

What a fun morning of activities! 11 children from HPJS went in the minibus to Longfleet Primary School and took part in the Poole Primary Panathlon Challenge. This involved trying their best in a variety of exciting challenges. All staff represented HPJS fantastically and should be really proud of their efforts. Well done boys and girls, great job! A big thank you to Mr Cole, the Panathlon Challenge team and everyone at Longfleet Primary School for organising such an enjoyable event!!
