“I love this school because it has a wide variety of things to do. ” Logan Yr 6
Here’s our monthly round-up of all the amazing PE and Sport that happened during the busy month of June.
04.06.19 – Y5/6 Athletics Quadkids Competition
Our HPJS athletes headed to Broadstone Middle School on Tuesday 4th June. They all had to compete in 4 events. Which were 75m sprint, 600m run, vortex throw and standing long jump. There was then a relay to finish. Only 8 children (4 boys, 4 girls) could compete in this event so three children did not compete, but where fantastic cheerleaders on the side line. Overall HPJS came 10th Out of 14 schools. Big Well Done, you did yourself and the badge proud.
Thank you to the parents for supporting too!
11.06.19 – Y5/6 Poole Town Sports
This athletics event is for the top athletes from each school to compete in. Winners of their heats go through to the finals and then the top 3 fasts times go through to represent Poole in their race. The children competed in 2 events and a relay.
Well done to those who took part, especially as the weather was horrendous, your attitude was amazing!
12.06.19 – Y5 Handball Festival
We walked over to Carter to work with experienced sports leaders and gain up to date rules and style of play. The children nailed the drills and worked really hard to improve their technique and skills over the pitch. They worked on shooting, defending and passing. Good luck for the final on Wednesday 19th June!!
19.06.19 – Y3/4 Tennis Tournament Dorset Summer Games Finals
After qualifying from the Poole tournament four children from years 3 and 4 travelled all the way over to Wey Valley Tennis Centre in Weymouth to take part in the Dorset Summer Games Finals. This tournament involved all the other schools from the various local areas who had also qualified. The children were wearing orange School Games t-shirts as they were representing their region of Poole. All four children played some amazing tennis and were fantastically behaved throughout! Mr Paterson is so proud of them for working hard and for never giving up!
21/06/19 – Year 3 AFCB Can Do Football Festival
Mr Paterson and Joe would like
to say a massive well done to the seven children from Year 3 who took part in
the AFC Bournemouth Can Do Football Festival at Carter. For many, it was their
first time wearing the HPJS football kit and representing the school. All of
them listened really well and tried extremely
hard! Great job guys!
26/06/19 – Dorset Summer Games Finals – Handball
After
winning the Poole qualifying tournament, HPJS went to Bryanston School to
compete against other winners from across Dorset. The boys and girls played
some amazing handball (only losing 1 game all day) and represented Poole
fantastically. The whole PE Team is super proud
HPJS!
28/06/19 – Dorset Town Sports County Finals
Five children from HPJS qualified from the event at Ashdown Leisure Centre to represent Poole at the Town Sports County Finals. All five children did amazingly well to qualify out of all the athletes from the area and scored many extremely valuable points for Team Poole. Holly D came 5th place in the Y5 girls 75m final, Holly F came 4th place in the Y6 girls 150m final and Matilda B came 6th in the Y5 girls rounders ball."I enjoy all the different types of sport we get to do.
